ITALIAN L2 SUMMER SCHOOL
Twice a year (in July and in September), the association Comitato Torino Università Estate (TUE) organizes and realizes Italian language and culture summerschools in collaboration with the University Language Centre (CLA-UniTO). The courses are held in small groups (12-15 learners) and are open to everyone. Once enrolled, participants are tested and then grouped according to their level of language ability.
The courses include two sessions, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. In the morning, learners attend language classes with qualified teachers who, according to the learners' needs cover every aspect of the Italian language. In the afternoon, learners can either participate in guided tours to discover the history, culture, art, and nature characterising Turin and around or carry on language training through learning activities in the labs of CLA-UniTO.
Classes are fully taught in Italian by native-speaking teachers, highly qualified and specialised in teaching Italian as a foreign language. Classes will take place in the main location of CLA-UNITO of the University of Turin, located in Via Sant’Ottavio, 20 - 10124 Torino, from Monday to Friday, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. In the afternoon, the labs of CLA will remain open for self-study activities.
A statement of attendance will be given to learners who have attended at least 75% of the course.
The summer edition of the TUE Summer School takes place in July and learning activities are accompanied by an exiting guided tours for the discovery of the local art and culture. Some meaningful sites are listed below:
- the once reigning in Italy royal family Savoia's residences, palaces and castles in the local territory,
- the Egyptian museum, founded in 1824 and housing one of the richest collection of Egyptian archeological finds
- the Automobile museum "Giovanni Agnelli" the founder of FIAT, considered among the most important and oldest automobile museums over the world
- the "Lago Maggiore" and the Borromean Islands, belonged and some of them still belonging to the Borromeo family, powerful feudal lords (XIV century) showing beautiful buildings and gardens well-known all over Europe
- the "Langhe" and "Monferrato" areas characterised by beautiful hill landscapes and by the production of very good and well-known wines

The Autumn edition of the Summer School takes place in September. The Italian learning course is accompanied by a wide range of cultural activities related to local September music event called MITO Settembre Musica, and to the annual fim celebration Torino Film Festival. Some activities include:
- guided tours in well-known Turin music buildings to learn their history and find out curiosities. Some of the buildings are: "Teatro Regio", the Auditorium "Arturo Toscanini", and the Conservatorio "Giuseppe Verdi".
- seminars held by professional opera singers who will introduce you into the tools and technics used to shape voice and achieve top performance.
- guided tours to the National Cinema Museum located in the Mole Antonelliana, the landmark building of Turin. Among the most important Cinema museums in the world, it collects a singular heritage in terms of exposed items and available audio/video materials. It is also known for the numerous scientific and divulgative activities in the development of digital tools improving the visual experienceof the museum
